The "Thank You" Project

Here's the thing:

I work in Central Supply at Ellsworth County Medical Center, in Ellsworth, KS. Each year our hospital does an annual health fair. This year is a little different for two reasons. The first one is: Devin Henderson, a magician, from Shawnee, KS is coming to show off is magic. The second one: Our booth (Central Supply) is doing what I would like to call the "Thank You" project. At our booth we are having a flag that has all the branches of military for people to sign. We also want to also offer Thank you cards for those that want to send a little message.
There is only 3 of us in our department and making 20 to 250 cards is going to be hard for us to do by April 24. I would like to ask if there would be anyone who would like to donate some handmade cards for our soliders overseas. Handmade, yes, i feel is more important and special cause it comes from the heart. Details: A thank you card with the themes of American or solider. On the back of them, please put your info so anyone can get a hold of you for requests. Also send business cards and envy's for the cards. I will be advertising this in our local newspaper and a our booth with the names of those who donated their time and cards. You can contact me by email which is mlmeier_2004@yahoo.com. Please take the time to make some cards for this special event and to let our soliders that we appreciate what they do for our country and to also let them know we care for them.

I finally figured it out. I got my signature on this page. I wanted to tell my angelhood group that if I don't post or visit their blog every two weeks, it cause of school. I have been very busy with that and I tend to forget. So I will say sorry now and will try to visit as often as I can. I do still want to be a part of this great group of ladies so don't kick me out. thanks for everything.

I just realized that I have not posted anything for almost a month. I want to apoligize. I started classes July 6 and I am very afraid that I will not do to well in my english class. I am taking two classes and tonight, I had a big class. I had 20 projects and unfortutally, only 6 people came. I am a little disappointed but that is the way it goes. I guess I am not meant to have more than that at any of my parties. I will post pics of the party later. Sorry, I am so late on posting.

What a Busy summer .......

What a busy summer and it really has not started yet. School around here is not out and the summer activities have already began. I would like to say sorry for not posting lately but like i said it has been wild. April 25, was our health fair, there i slipped and fell and busted my head open. I took a ride in the amublance, short 1 min. trip, to the hospital. I was working the health fair. I ended up with 4 stitches. My daughters B-day party was also that day. It was the first one that her friends that were invited came. She was so happy. Yesterday, she started T-ball. She went into the field not knowing anything and then she comes off the field with high confidence. I am so happy for her. I did not get pics but i plan to at their first game. She did hit the ball when it was pitched to her. That made her even more happy.

I promise that i will take the time to post from now on. I will put it on my schedule and get it done. thanks for being so understanding. Here are some pics that should make your day. He likes to be up and close to the camera.

Here is what I made my children for Valentines day. My daughter enjoyed all of her gifts.

They both LOVED theier HUGE pillows, if you could not tell. The frames that they got, were very simple layout. There was no good photo of the mail boxes so i hope you can get a good veiw of them.

Past Due

I know i am past due on a post. My son had me busy this last week with being in the hospital. He had upper respiratory infection and MRSA. Scary but we got him through it. He is doing much better. I want to thank everyone on PW that have wished him to get better.

It is that time of year again. Usually, I only make three cards, one for my daughter, my hubby, and my mom. Not this year. Try 26!! Yeah, you are reading this right. My mom came to me the other day and asked me make 26 Valentine cards. So here is the begin of what I have created. Some of them are B-day cards also.

These idea came for a card that Angela kelley made. thanks for the idea. It is not as good as hers, but I had to try cause the card she made was WONDERFUL!!

My first request for party favors

I got my first request to make stuff and sell them, actually two requests that are due the same week. I work in the hospital here and our infectious control nurse was wanting some for infectious control week that is next week. the other request is from the kitchen at the hospital. they are doing a craft and bake sale. All proceed go to the christmas store and the food bank, due to the shortage at our food bank. Here are the pics of some of the projects that i made. the tin pails are infectious control week and the rest is for the bake sale. I have more projects to do. I will take pics and share them when they are done.

Picture from left to right: Top: 1. Black pail from Wal-mart. It already had the face, so I used Orange stickles. and punched holes into the pail with the crop-a-dile and wrapped the ribbon.

2. I used Train Collage set. same concept.

3. Same concept but I embossed the face with silver embossing pwd.

next row: 1. the Milk jug. with Ghost and Goblins set.

My class turned out pretty cool. I had 6 people show up. not to bad for me. We did several projects. They all had fun. Here are the pics of the projects. I have a funny story about my daughter that happened at this party. We had the party at the Library. I heard little feet coming downstairs, so I looked to see who it was and all the sudden i hear "Maria Meier. Maria Meier, we need the cell phone." To make it even funnier, she had her hands on her hips. I could not help but laugh. Enjoy

Stress of Redoing things

We redid our craft room last weekend and I had to put my class projects on hold for a while and now I am doing the cutting at the last minute. YIKES!!!! Here are some pics of the new room. I started out with being able to have 4-5 people downstairs and now I can have 17 people. It is a mess because we are not done reorganizing so forgive me. My mom and husband would be mad if they new I am putting these pics on here so, here goes. Enjoy. Remember, it is a work in progress. We (mom and I) are usually not this messy. Forgive me, It also has a mess for getting ready for a party.

Good times at Parties

I didn't get any pics of my guest but I did get some pics of my set up and the host gifts. Everyone had fun with the three projects. I ended up changing the third card to a different one. I had two new guests that have never been to a party. I hope they enjoyed themselves. Here are the pics.

This one is the CD cube that I made for my host. She loved it alot.

Here is how I set up my formal dining room, or not so formal, lol. The "Notes" Notebook in the middle of the bottom pic is on of the giveaways. I also made some smaller ones also. I will take pics of them later. I will ,in a few days, add the turtorial of the card boxes that I found online. My printer did not print of the web address. I am looking for who did it so I can give them credit for the wonderful creation. I never thought I would be blogging. Leave me a comment if it is your creation. I will also post nugget purses, which I found on youtube.com, I will post the person name when I post the turtorial.

Party Time

I think getting ready to demonstrate a party is unnerving in away. Especially for me, who does everything at the last minute. I should be cutting paper for my party on the 27th of July but I am on the computer. Getting to demonstrate is the fun of being a demonstrator. I love to teach everyone the things I know and I create. Here is the creations that my client has chosen to make at her party.

So here is my first blog and I don't feel like it is the best but I will get better like my card making.
